New figures from Eurostat show that the number of Irish people in the 30-34 year age bracket with third level education, is the the third highest in the EU.

Ireland is on 52.3% just behind Cyprus on 54.6 and Lithuania which tops the table on 57.6%.

Ireland also performed very well with the share of early leavers from education and training falling from 12.2% in 2006 to 6.9% in 2015 putting us in the 7th lowest place in the EU.

Tim Hayes of the European Commission office in Dublin says  these statistics are great omens for the future of the Irish economy.
