Ireland's youth unemployment rate has risen slightly to 14.5 per cent.

The figure, which represents the number of under-25s without a job, marks an increase of 0.9 per cent on July 2018 data.

New figures from Eurostat however show that the overall rate of unemployment in Ireland is now 5.3 per cent of the workforce.

Grace Bolton of the European Commission office in Dublin says Ireland has one of the better workforce employment rates in the European Union.
