Ireland continues to have more female schoolteachers than males.

New figures from Eurostat show that 79 per cent of teachers in Irish schools are female - significantly above the EU average.

Grace Bolton of the European Commission office in Dublin says the figures show that women dominate the sector across all of Europe.
