The European Commission is to tighten its rules in the area of online spending.

It says the Covid 19 Pandemic has revealed that purchasing online and the provision of refunds has turned out to be a bad experience for millions of consumers right across the European Union.

A major review in to consumer engagement with established and scam operators will get underway in early 2021.

Cyril Sullivan of the European Consumer Centre in Dublin says the review will cover a wide range of areas.
