Relatively few people in Ireland take steps to protect their data when they’re online.

A Eurostat survey shows that only one in three of us read privacy policy statements before providing personal details.

The figures show that just 38% of Irish internet users only allow restricted access to their geographical location, or refuse access to this information entirely.

Tim Hayes of the European Commission says the figures are extraordinary considering the high usage rate of internet devices by Irish people.
