The European Consumer Centre is advising Irish people considering going on holidays later in the Summer, to book package breaks.

It says package holidays give EU consumers greater redress options where a dispute may occur.

The Centre says it's important to book a holiday that can be cancelled or moved and contains a refund provision.

Cyril Sullivan of ECC Ireland says holidays booked via credit or debit cards within the EU provide greater security in the event of a problem.
