52 per cent of Irish people are wary of more European integration and think the time is right for a debate on the future of Europe.

The recent Red C Poll for European Movement Ireland found that despite strong support for European-led action in areas such as the regulation of online news sources and social media, just over half of Irish people are opposed to greater European integration in areas such as taxation.

Stephen O'Shea of European Movement Ireland says 49% are also opposed to handing over greater control of healthcare to the EU in a crisis such as Covid-19.
