The percentage of men in employment in Ireland last year saw one of the largest decreases in Europe.

The male employment rate here fell by 2.5% at the end of 2020 compared to the EU average of one per cent.

The rate of employment for women in Ireland was down by 1.3% compared to EU average of 0.4 per cent.

Tim Hayes of the European Commission in Ireland says Covid 19 lockdowns clearly impacted on employment activity here last year.
