The Government is to spend €4 million on a new strategy aimed at securing more Irish employment positions in EU institutions.

The plan is designed to ensure that Irish applicants are more successful at entry-level competitions.

Ireland and Denmark have the lowest number of employees per capita working in the EU Commission.

Tim Hayes of the European Commission Representation in Ireland says part of the strategy will see, among other things, a major increase in scholarships to attend the prestigious College of Europe.
