Irish people are bucking a trend in Europe which has seen trust in institutions plummet since the start of the COVID pandemic.

Although confidence here in the EU and the Irish Government has dropped slightly in 15 months, we are still giving both institutions some of the highest approval ratings in Europe.

A survey by Dublin-based 'Eurofound' also reveals that Ireland has the highest percentage of residents who intend to get vaccinated at 76% compared to 60% for all western Member States.

Tim Hayes of the European Commission Representation in Ireland says holistic measures are needed to ensure faith in institutions remains high.
